General pest treatment for Canberra homes.
General pest treatment is one visit, inside and out, covering the everyday crawling and household pests — spiders, cockroaches, silverfish, slaters, earwigs, millipedes, mud wasps, ants and the routine occasional invaders. One quote, one written report, one technician on the day. Family-safe product, same-week availability across the ACT and surrounding NSW. TCB's standard residential general pest treatment gives the home a clean baseline at the start of every season.
Ten pests. One visit.
One written report.
Spiders
External web-down, harbourage dusting and crack-and-crevice treatment around the foundation line and known burrow locations. Family-safe, low-toxicity residual.
Cockroaches
Treatment of the subfloor, perimeter and exterior harbourage for Australian and oriental cockroaches, which breed outside and come in. For German cockroaches breeding inside the kitchen, we run the dedicated targeted programme instead — see the cockroach page.
Silverfish
Surface treatment in wardrobes, linen cupboards and bathroom areas, plus moisture-reduction advice. Slow but steady surface residual.
Slaters & pill bugs
The moisture-loving occasional invaders around the bathroom and laundry. Caught in numbers after rain in autumn and spring — perimeter treatment reduces the next wave.
Earwigs
Activity peaks in late spring and after rainfall. Treatment around garden beds, the subfloor and the laundry, plus moisture reduction in harbourage areas.
Millipedes
Annual mass-movement across Canberra patios and pavers in autumn and after wet weather. Perimeter barrier holds them back where it goes down.
Mud wasps
Removal of active nests from eaves, fences, sheds and meter boxes, with preventive treatment around known building sites for next season.
Ants
Light ant pressure is included in the general pest service — perimeter barrier plus interior monitoring. For sustained ant pressure or species like Argentine ants, see the dedicated ant page.
Mosquitoes & flies
Outdoor harbourage reduction — standing water screens, lawn pressure reduction, perimeter spray around outdoor entertaining areas.
Ladybugs & occasional invaders
Asian lady beetle aggregations in autumn, clover mites in spring, the annual sticky invaders. Vacuum-friendly removal plus exclusion where they are entering.
Inside and out.
Same visit.
A general pest visit treats the property inside and out — perimeter barrier around the foundation line, eave spray where required, harbourage dusting in the subfloor, and targeted application inside the home where activity warrants. Web-down on the exterior surfaces. A written note of what was done where.

What general pest doesn't cover.
Termites are a separate service
Termites need their own inspection and treatment programme — Termidor-accredited, with a structural warranty on qualifying work. See the dedicated termite page.
Rodents (rats and mice) and birds
Rats and mice need tamper-resistant bait stations, traps and exclusion proofing. Birds need humane exclusion — spikes, netting, deterrents. Each has its own dedicated programme.
Bed bugs and fleas
Bed bug and flea treatment is species-specific, with mattress / frame / luggage-cycle treatment for bed bugs and a pet-and-home coordinated programme for fleas. Bundled with general pest only on request.
Possums, bees, stored-product pests
Possum removal is a licensed wildlife activity. European wasp and bee nest removal is its own service. Stored-product pests are a commercial programme. Each has its own dedicated page.
Four steps from inspection to ongoing cover.
A general pest visit follows the same documented process on every job — what was found around the property, what was applied inside and out, and what's recommended next. Same technician where possible, written report on every visit, follow-up treatment inside the guarantee window if pests return.
Quote & inspection
We inspect the property, identify the species and pressure points, and leave you with a written quote before any treatment starts.
General pest treatment
Inside and outside in the same visit. Family-safe product, low-toxicity by default, with clear re-entry times. Pets and children can usually return once surfaces dry.
Written report
Every visit closes with a typed report — what we treated, what we saw, what to watch for. Useful for tenants, strata managers and pre-sale inspections.
Follow-up & cover
If a covered pest returns inside the guarantee window, we re-treat as part of that guarantee.
If any of these sound like you.
Spring baseline
A general pest visit at the start of spring sets the property up for the warmer months — spider and ant pressure, mud wasps building nests.
Pre-sale preparation
A pre-sale treatment clears the visible pest pressure before listing, with a written report you can hand the buyer's conveyancer. Often required for end-of-lease rentals.
Tenants or strata
Rental property or strata unit where annual pest cover is part of the tenancy or body corporate obligations.
Family with kids or pets
Households with kids or pets where a regular pest baseline fits the hygiene and allergy plan.
The questions Canberra households ask first.
What actually happens on a general pest visit?
The technician walks the property inside and out, identifies what's active, then applies a perimeter barrier outside, web-down on exterior surfaces, and targeted application inside where required (typically kitchens and laundries). Most visits run 45–90 minutes. Pets and children can usually return once surfaces dry, usually within 30–60 minutes.
Does this cover ants, spiders and cockroaches?
Yes — ants (light pressure), spiders and the standard Australian/oriental cockroach species are part of the general pest scope. Dedicated programmes exist for sustained ant colonies, German cockroaches (which breed inside kitchens), heavy spider pressure, and any species we cover individually — see the species pages for those.
Is the treatment safe around kids and pets?
Yes. We default to the lowest-toxicity option that does the job. Once surfaces dry (typically 30–60 minutes), children and pets can return to treated areas. Re-entry times are on every quote in plain English.
How much does general pest treatment cost in Canberra?
Pricing depends on the property size and the pest pressure. We send a written quote before any work starts so you know the exact cost up front — no surprises.
How long does the treatment last?
A general pest treatment is designed to hold for the season — typically 3–6 months for ants, spiders and slaters in the warmer months.
